Microsoft announced via Twitter that the Lumia Denim SW update would be coming soon. However, they did not provide exact release date.

Without doubt, the Lumia Denim is coming soon, but when? To reassure Lumia users, Microsoft has tweeted and explained that Denim update for Lumia phones would be rolled out soon once the SW update is tested and approved by operators. However, there is not definite release date thus far, but a tweet from officials comes as hope that it is on the way.

Microsoft has used the word “soon” and it may be a week or more as testing and approvals of operators take time.

As per previous rumors, Microsoft has been prepping to roll out the update sometime in last week of November as they promise to complete the distribution of Lumia Denim by Christmas or before the end of the year.

According to my sources, Microsoft reportedly distributed final bits to operators for final testing two weeks ago. And the SW update is just around the corner, more precisely “this weekend.” The first Windows phones to receive the update will be the Lumia 1520, Lumia 930 and Lumia Icon.

FYI, Windows Phone 8.1 Update 1 brings an array of notable changes such as Cortana expansion as beta, folders on Start screen, apps corner, SMS merge and forwarding, custom szoone time with Alarm app, Consumer VPN, mobile site improvements in IE, and Store live tile. While the new firmware will include Lumia Camera 5 app with improved image processing algorithms and new features such as Moment Capture and Rich Capture, and addition of Bing Weather and Health & Fitness data to Glance Screen for Compatible Lumia devices. Besides, the Redmond debuggers have also fixed stability issues with the previous update for those who have select Lumia devices such as Lumia 925 and Lumia 1020.

  1. It would be a MIRACLE if Verizon skipped the Cyan firmware update and pushed Denim out instead, but we’ll see. If not, I’m definitely leaving Verizon and getting the 1520 on AT&T instead!

  2. well.. middle of January 2015, so far very few phones have Denim. My ATT 1520 is one that’s still on Cyan.. I guess that “soon” in the IT world = months..
