Samsung Electronics has finally launched the slimmest phone in its lineup – the Galaxy A8 in China, which gets white, black and gold color variants The smartphone has been released in 16GB and 32GB models, though Samsung is yet to reveal the price of the device along with its availability in other regions.
The Galaxy A8 is a perfect example of the company’s evolving design philosophy and its attempts to bridge the gap between a budget and a flagship device. Going by the images, the Galaxy A8 certainly looks like a high-end phone, though that’s not really the case. It is primarily aimed at the mid-range market, decked in a precisely carved metal edge.
Measuring at just 5.9mm, the Galaxy A8 is now the slimmest phone ever in the Samsung lineup, flaunting a near bezel-less display. Another worthy feature included in the Galaxy A8 is the new improved finger-print scanner on home button similar to the one found in the flagship duo Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge.
Other specs on the device include a 5.5-inch FullHD Super AMOLED display with 401pppi. Powering the smartphone would be Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 615 octa-core processor bundled with 2GB of RAM. It runs the latest Android Lollipop 5.1.1 and as already mentioned, comes in 16GB/32GB in-built memory. While optics on the smartphone include a 16MP primary camera along with a 5MP snapper on the front.
Samsung is yet to announce the device in other markets, though we expect that the device will be launched mostly in Asia, and possible some parts of Europe. We’ll keep updating as soon as we hear something new, hence keep checking back for updates.
