Recently, Samsung India had mistakenly listed the new Galaxy On5 on its official website with specs and images, though the page has now been taken down. Meanwhile, rumors of another Samsung handset called the Galaxy On7 have also been doing rounds, details of which were earlier posted and now also have been removed. Both these devices will be manufactured in India, suggesting that these smartphones will most likely be launched only in Asian countries.
The Galaxy On5 is a budget smartphone supposedly with “an unprecedentedly thin frame and bezel”. It gets a 5-inch TFT LCD screen sporting an HD resolution while the back of the device gets decked in faux leather. Powering the smartphone will Samsung’s in-house quad-core Exynos chipset bundled with 1.5GB RAM. It comes with 8GB of internal memory along with a microSD slot.
It’ll be a dual SIM phone featuring an 8MP rear camera with LED flash and f/2.2 aperture, along with a 5MP selfie cam with f/2.2 aperture. Juicing up the device will be a 2600mAh battery while connectivity options include Bluetooth 4.1, GPS, and Wi-Fi.
Meanwhile, the Galaxy On7 as the name suggests gets a larger 5.5-inch display with the same resolution. Most of the innards remain identical with the same Exynos quad-core processor bundled with 1.5GB of RAM, 8GB of internal storage along with a 5MP selfie cam. Though it gets a beefier 3000mAh battery while the rear camera unit gets bumped to 13MP.
The Samsung Galaxy On5 price in India is expected to be around Rs.10,000 while its larger sibling the Galaxy On7 is expected to cost around Rs.13,000, which roughly translates into $160 and $200 respectively.
