CES 2016: Lenovo X1 Series gets hardware refresh and new ThinkPad X1 Yoga

Lenovo is all geared for the upcoming Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas. The Chinese manufacturer has announced a wide range of X1 devices which include a new Carbon laptop, a Yoga laptop, a tablet, all-in-one desktop, monitor along with a docking station.

The main highlight among them is certainly the ThinkPad X1 Tablet, a Windows-powered convertible weighing in a mere 2.4 pounds. It features a 12-inch IPS display (2560×1440), 1TB SSD, 16GB of LPDDR3 RAM along with USB Type C with Power Delivery. Though what’s really sets it apart is the device’s modularity, giving it more functionality with clip-on accessories. The Productivity module further enhances the battery life by 5 hours and adds USB 3.0 along with OneLink+. The Presenter Module adds a 60-inch built-in projector while the 3D imaging module gets an Intel RealSense 3D camera. All the above-mentioned modules offer HDMI connectivity as well.

The base model of the ThinkPad X1 tablet has been priced at $899 which starts shipping in February.

The company will be also showcasing its refreshed ThinkPad lineup at CES 2016.

The ThinkPad X1 Carbon is aimed at offering ultra-portability, apparently the ThinkPad we’ve seen so far. It weighs a mere 2.6 pounds with a thickness of 0.65 inches. It offers up to 1TB of storage and the option of either 2560×1440 or 1920×1080 IPS 14-inch display and optional 4G connectivity. Pricing starts at $1299 while the shipping begins in February.

The company has also added a brand new product to the X1 line up with the ThinkPad X1 Yoga 2-in-1/hybrid, merging X1 series DNA with Yoga. Just like the others, its really light weighing in at 2.8 pounds measuring 0.66 in thickness. Users also have the option to upgrade the convertible to an OLED display for better visuals.

It features a touchscreen with support for an active stylus for taking notes and making highlights. Something similar to what Microsoft offers as the stylus can be charged within the device. The notebook can also be upgraded with up to Intel Core i7 processor, 16GB of RAM and 1TB of storage.

The XI Yoga hybrid starts shipping later this month and gets a rather hefty price tag of $1499.

Meanwhile, Lenovo has further expanded the X1 range with an all-in-one desktop. The ThinkCenter X1 AIO sports a 24-inch Full HD IPS display on a rather thin bezel. It comes with your standard set of innards which include up to an Intel Core i7 chipset, 500GB or 1TB hard drive and up to 16GB of RAM.

The company claims that its panel surface has been “roughened at a micro level to help disperse light to reduce eyestrain and glare.” The ThinkCentre X1 will be available in the US starting March while pricing starts at $1049.

Finally, the company has announced a ThinkVision X1 monitor. The company claims it to be the world’s slimmest 27-inch 4K monitor measuring 7.5mm in thickness. It also comes equipped with a built-in 1080p camera housed on a rotating external arm. The ThinkVision X1 is expected to start shipping in the US in March for $799.
