The MWC, otherwise Mobile World Congress, is a trade show held in February. It is there that companies show off the hottest new phones. With MWC 2016 approaching, mobile companies have sent out invites to MWC media events; and LG has sent out its own invitation highlighting the company will reveal a new flagship.
LG sent out an invite to numerous tech websites. The invite reads, “Play Begins,” with a jack-in-the-box music player thrown in. The invitation also stated, “We would like to invite you to the unveiling of LG’s next flagship model at MWC.”
So that all but confirms there will be a red-hot LG flagship phone at MWC. But what could that be? Well, there are two feasible possibilities. They are the G Flex 3 and LG G5 phones.
As rumors have suggested a February launch for the LG G5, that is probably the most likely phone for LG to reveal at the event. Weibo leaks made it clear LG will launch the G5 in quarter one of 2016. So that would be either February or March. Now there’s an LG invite that states a flagship will be at the MWC; there’s a good chance it will be the LG G5.
Furthermore, there have been rumors that LG might shelve the G Flex 3. There was speculation the phone would not be at CES 2016, and that much was the case. By shelving the G Flex 3, LG could then focus on the upcoming G5 and V10 handsets.
Plenty of websites have also provided expected specifications for the LG G5. Most expect that the upcoming phone will have the latest Snapdragon 820 processor, which Samsung is now a manufacturer of.

Some have suggested that the G5 is also going to have a 4K display resolution. That would amount to something like 3,840 × 2,160 pixels (UHD). However, there is also DCI 4K that is 4,096 x 2,160 resolution; but that’s more limited to the video industry.
The G5 should also boast decent cameras. The rumor mill suggests it will have a 21-megapixel rear camera. The front camera might have an 8-megapixel resolution.
So it seems that the new flagship mentioned in LG’s MWC invite will be the LG G5. If it isn’t, then the company probably hasn’t ditched the G Flex 3 after all.
