The upcoming new smaller 4-inch iPhone SE seems to have been confirmed to indeed carry the ‘SE’ badging thanks to a leak from those manning the supply chain network in China.
Even though the leaked image which can be considered to be against the tenets of non-disclosure agreements that make public releases of such images before the official launch of the product illegal, is evident the budget iPhone will indeed come with 16 GB of onboard storage.
However, the leaker has taken to other posts to reveal that a 64 GB version of the iPhone SE will also there for the taking. Meanwhile, the SE will also come with an integrated NFC chip which makes it compatible with Apple Pay. Further, the iPhone SE is also expected to come in four color i.e. silver, space gray, gold, and rose gold.
The tipster has also added the overall design of the iPhone SE pretty much mimics the iPhone 5s but might have slightly curved edges sans the mirror finish of the original that had made it prone to scratches. Accessories to be included with the handset in the box include EarPods and Lightning to USB cable.
Another leaked video though has it that the iPhone SE might have the same body style as the iPhone 6. The video released in the Chinese video sharing site Youku depicts the SE being transposed into a smaller bodyshell similar to the iPhone 6.

The leaked details also have it that the iPhone SE will come with an A9 chip at its core and will have a 1 GB RAM, which makes the device just as capable as the iPhone 6s but in a smaller form factor similar to that of the iPhone 5s. Plus, there is going to be an M9 chip as well which supports the always-on “Hey Siri” feature. The handset might also be compatible with Live Photos which Apple had introduced with iOS 9 last year.

Among the other features that is expected to make it to the iPhone SE include a 12-megapixel iSight camera along with 4K video recording ability, 802.11ac Wi-Fi, NFC, Bluetooth 4.2, and VoLTE, as seen on the iPhone 6s. However, the SE variant might still miss out on 3D Touch display feature that is among the most likable features of the iPhone 6s.
Coming to the intended pricing, analyst Ming-Chi Kuo at KGI Securities believes the iPhone SE will eventually sell for around the $400-$500 price mark. Reports further mention the original iPhone 5s price might be halved to continue retaining its appeal.
