The upcoming HTC 10 is back again to hog the headline which is hardly surprising considering the handset is fast approaching its launch schedule.
The latest on the soon-to-be HTC flagship has its origins in the GFXBench that pretty much confirms what we have known about the Android phone so far. However, the latest teaser shot of the handset could be of greater interest, which confirms an oval shaped physical home button at the lower center bottom flanked by the usual ‘Back’ and ‘Recent Apps’ capacitive buttons on either side. Also, of course, the home button will be doubling up as a fingerprint sensor as well.
HTC seems to be taking its time on the usage of capacitive buttons as the last device seen to sport such buttons is the HTC One M7. In any case, the image also sheds light on something that again is not desirable to many out there, the lack of the front facing stereo speakers. That in itself could be a topic of debate, whether it is better to have stereo speakers or capacitive buttons though it remains to be seen how HTC hopes to satiate the desires of music buffs.
As for the rest of the specs, the recent GFXBench listing has revealed the internals of the HTC 10. There are no surprises here though, considering the handset will be built around a Snapdragon 820 chipset with due assistance from an Adreno 530 GPU, 4 GB of RAM along with 32 GB of ROM.
Those again can be considered to be a direct rip-off from the spec sheets of several of its rivals, which includes the Samsung Galaxy S7, Galaxy S7 Edge or the LG G5.
The HTC 10 will also be coming with a 5.1-inch 2560 x 1440 Quad HD display that makes for a pixel density of 576 pixels per inch. The phone will be running Android 6.0.1 right out of the box with HTC Sense 8.0 running on top.
However, the Taiwanese company is still claiming their secret weapon to slay its rival will be the performance of the HTC 10, as exemplified by the tagline: “Performance to the power of 10.”
“Not all phones are created equal,” revealed HTC India on Twitter. “The fastest and smoothest Android. You’ll feel it.”
Another area where HTC said its flagship will be excelling in is its camera capabilities. And to achieve that, the HTC 10 will be packing in a 12 UltraPixel rear camera complete with laser autofocus and LED flash that is capable of shooting 4K videos as well. Then there is a 5-megapixel front shooter as well for video chats and selfie shots.
The HTC 10 gets launched on April 12, which is when we will be getting the real stuff.
