Released in November 2015, HTC One A9 was initially announced in September last year. However, priced around 29K-30K on e-commerce portals, it still remains in the competition against OnePlus 3 due to its price, features and competitive hardware specifications.
Undoubtedly, OnePlus 3 has a really great 16 MP primary camera with phase detection autofocus, OIS, LED flash and f/2.0 aperture. HTC One A9, on the other hand, features a 13 MP autofocus primary camera with, with OIS, dual-LED (dual tone) flash, and f/2.0 aperture.
Despite both the devices feature AMOLED capacitive touchscreen display with 1080 x 1920 pixels full HD resolution, OnePlus comes protected with Corning Gorilla Glass 4 in contrary as opposed to Corning Gorilla Glass 3 in HTC One A9.
However, OnePlus 3 sports a bigger 5.5-inch display as compared to a 5-inch on HTC One A9. Talking about the chipsets, OnePlus runs on Qualcomm MSM8996 Snapdragon 820 whereas HTC One A9 has Qualcomm MSM8952 Snapdragon 617 running inside.
Similarly, OnePlus 3 deals with better Adreno 530 GPU as compared to Adreno 405 in HTC One A9. In the battery department, HTC One A9 packs a non-removable Li-Ion 2150 mAh battery whereas OnePlus 3 packs somewhat bigger 3000 mAh Li-Ion battery.
When it comes to memory, HTC One A9 seems to have a long way to go in its comparison with OnePlus 3. The OnePlus 3 comes with a whopping 6GB RAM and 64GB ROM whereas HTC One A9 comes in two variants – 2GB RAM + 16GB Rom as well as 3GB RAM + 32GB ROM
When it comes to such a comparison, the benefit of going with OnePlus 3 is its Dual SIM support. Despite almost all phones feature Dual SIM these days, HTC One A9 has no support for Dual SIM, once again losing ground to OnePlus 3.
Coming back to the camera segment, OnePlus 3 has an 8MP secondary camera on offer, which is great in this price segment. On the other hand, HTC One A9 deals with just a 4MP selfie camera.
Interestingly enough, OnePlus 3 is capable of recording videos at 2160p@30fps and 720p@120fps with Auto HDR where HTC One A9 has a single option – 1080p@30fps.
By looking at these differences, our absolute recommendation is OnePlus 3 as you get a lot better things at a lesser price tag.
