A couple of new Samsung Galaxy Note 7 leaks have come to the fore, all of which point to a blockbuster of a device that the upcoming Note version is shaping up to be. Courtesy of Evan Blass, the leaks assumes added significance given the reliability that he commands in the tech circles.
First off, what seems to be a certainty is that the next in the Note series will be termed Note 7 after all, and not Note 6. This clearly is aimed at ensuring commonality in the naming scheme with Samsung’s other flagship range, the Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge. This in turn will ensure consumers are able to relate all three to being the latest from the South Korean manufacturer.
Specs wise, the Note 7 will come with a 5.7-inch Quad HD Super AMOLED display and will have 64 GB of standard memory. The latter is also expandable via microSD cards and will come with a rear facing 12-megapixel Dual Pixel cam and a front facing 5-megapixel unit.
Blass further confirmed there is going to be an iris scanner as well for added bio-metric security while the IP68 water and dust proofing will ensure the phablet can take on some rough handling as well. The device will be available in shades of silver, blue and black.
Meanwhile, Chinese site Weibo too has come up with another set of leaks which corroborates the above facts while adding some more to it as well. For instance, the Note 7 will be powered by the Exynos 8893 and Snapdragon 821 chipsets.
That is not all as the Note 6 will also feature a 6 GB RAM manufactured using Samsung’s own 10nm LPDDR4 process. Also unlike the OnePlus 3 which has its memory throttled to ensures better battery life but at the cost of performance, the entire 6 GB of RAM will have a free run in the Note 7. Among the other tech bits being associated with the Note 7 include a massive 4,000 mAh battery, USB Type-C port along with S-Pen stylus support. Weibo sources also mention the Note 7 might be available in 128 and 256 GB memory options as well.
As for its launch, there is no information so far to suggest Samsung will deviate from the usual launch schedule, which means that’s going to happen on August 2 at New York. That’s also the time when several other heavyweights would also be hitting streets. Those include the new Nexus range followed by the iPhone 7 the very next month.
