It is almost the time of the year when Google launches a new range of its Nexus smartphones. However, this year, speculations suggest that the signature Android devices will be renamed as “Pixel.” According to some reports, the tech giant is expected to unveil the upcoming smartphones on October 4. Alphabet owned Google may also bring the Google Home, Daydream VR, and a brand new Chromecast along with the Pixel handsets.
We have been hearing a lot about the successors of the Nexus line-up for quite some time. The forthcoming devices have leaked multiple times featuring the code names Sailfish and Marlin. By now, we have got to know the possible final names of the smartphones. The smaller Sailfish will most probably be branded as “Pixel”, while the larger Marlin may be called “Pixel XL.”
According to rumors, the Pixel will sport a 5-inch AMOLED display with a Full HD 1080p resolution. A quad-core 64-bit Snapdragon 820 is expected to tick inside the device. On the other hand, the bigger Pixel XL will feature a 5.5-inch AMOLED screen with QHD 1440p resolution. This will most probably be powered by a more powerful Snapdragon 821 SoC.
A Corning Gorilla Glass 5 will protect the displays of both the Pixel and the Pixel XL. Each smartphone will possibly come with 4 GB of LPDDR4 RAM along with the choice of either 32 GB or 128 GB internal memory. As of now, there is no information about the presence of any 64 GB variant.

The camera department of the smartphones will remain same to the current Nexus 5X and Nexus 6P, at least on paper. The rear shooter will be a 12.3 MP unit, and the front camera is expected to be an 8 MP module. Both the handsets will support 4K video recording through the primary camera.
The smaller Pixel phone will be fueled by a 2770mAh battery, while a beefier 3450mAh battery shall juice up the larger Pixel XL. We are almost sure that both the smartphones will run Android 7.0 Nougat out of the box. Google had chosen HTC to manufacture the upcoming devices.

The soon to be launching handsets will sport the latest USB Type-C port and come loaded with a few goodies specially made for them by Google. The company may additionally showcase the Google Home which is a smart wireless speaker with inbuilt voice recognition similar to the Amazon Echo.
It is being presumed that the tech giant will unveil a new generation Daydream VR headset to compete with Samsung’s latest Gear VR. We also expect a successor of the Chromecast which may be called the Chromecast Ultra or Chromecast Plus. The main USP of it will be its native support for the 4K resolution.
