Speculations suggest that the Google Pixel XL will cost $649 for 128 GB variant and have potential to become iPhone killer. Google’s Pixel phones are trending in the rumor mill for quite some time now. HTC made Pixel and Pixel XL is anticipated to be launched in the next month itself.
By now, we almost certainly know that this year, the Nexus smartphones will get a new name – Pixel. Google will have its new range of smartphones manufactured by the Taiwan-based HTC. It is presumed that there will be no 64 GB variant of the Pixel phones. Instead, the company will only sell the 32 GB and 128 models.
Previous year’s flagship, the Nexus 6P was available from $499. This is the price of the 32 GB storage version, while the 64 GB one cost $549 and you need to pay $649 for the 128 GB variant. The purported $649 price tag of the upcoming Pixel XL does not specify any internal memory capacity. It means that there is a possibility of Google keeping the pricing identical to its predecessor by selling the 128 GB variant for $649. Additionally, this can also be the price of the 32 GB model pitting it against the current Samsung flagships.
As of now, there is no info about the pricing of the smaller Pixel, but it’s evident that the price will be lower. Some speculations claim that from this year, Google will offer finance on its smartphone line-up. It is entirely unknown if the third party carriers will handle this financing or the search engine giant will provide it. There is also a slight possibility that Google may offer a yearly upgrade program similar to the one given by Apple. Even though some of the information come from trusted sources, nothing can be confirmed until the official launch.
The Pixel and the Pixel XL shall be Google’s newest flagships and will sport top of the line specifications. The smaller Pixel is expected to sport a 5-inch Full HD display, while a 5.5-inch Quad HD screen may sit on the front of the larger Pixel XL. Both the handsets will be equipped with Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon 821 SoCs and thus should offer seamless performance. 4 GB DDR4 RAM will be at the helm of each of the smartphones for smooth multitasking. Google may launch the duo at an event in the first week of October.
