GoPro has finally unveiled the much awaited Karma drone at an event in California. The newly launched quadcopter comes with a price tag of $799. However, if you buy it together with a GoPro Hero5 Black, it will cost $1099 and $999 with Hero5 Session. The drone will hit the stores on 23rd October this year.
The most innovative aspect of the GoPro Karma is its unique portability and simplicity. The drone can be easily folded and packed into its compact case which can then be carried just like any regular backpack. Flying the quadcopter is a child’s play. Even amateurs who have never flown any drone before will be able to operate it comfortably, and experts will be thrilled by its capabilities.
You can mount a Hero5 Black or Hero5 Session or a Hero4 camera on the brand new drone to record smooth videos. GoPro has also introduced an innovative Passenger App which can be used to live stream footage from the drone right onto your friend’s smartphone or tablet.
You can even control the quadcopter from the application.
The newest drone from GoPro comes with an advanced Karma stabilizer. It is the component which will cancel out the bumps and bounces and enable smooth video recording. This state-of-the-art stabilizer can also be detached from the drone and used as a handheld mount with the Karma Grip to capture exceptionally steady footages.
Moving on to the specifications, the Karma drone can achieve a maximum speed of 35 miles per hour or about 56 Km/hour.
It can be flown to a maximum distance of 3280 feet or 1000 meters and reach a maximum altitude of 14,500 feet or 4,500 meters. The quadcopter weighs just over a kilogram at 1006 grams. GoPro ships a Karma Controller along with its latest drone. It features a 5-inch HD 720p display and sports a remarkable 900 nits’ brightness. The controller can operate for 4 hours on a single charge. The GoPro drone is juiced up by a 5100mAh or 75.4Wh Karma battery which promises a total flight time of 20 minutes.
Though there are several Karma like drones e.g. DJI’s Phantom 4 or Yuneec’s Typhoon H but Karma will mark his presence.
