It is not a rumor now, and this has passed the thresholds of speculations – Nokia has confirmed plans to release its Android smartphones by the second quarter of 2017, according to a slide presentation (PDF) made by the company at its Capital Markets Day.
Nokia was reported to have rolled out a global ad campaign for its smartphones recently, and a number of Microsoft top-shots also confirmed the company’s plans to unveil Nokia Android smartphones by nearly mid-2017.
Nokia is expected to showcase the Android phones and even tablets at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2017, and the design and production of two Android Nougat phones had leaked out according to some sources.
The company that has taken over the production of Nokia phones for the next decade, HMD Global, is scheduled to be at MWC 2017, and it’s likely that the company could only be at the events to showcase its new Nokia smartphones in February next year.
While the unveiling of new Nokia smartphones for Q2 2017 has been confirmed, it is not known whether the company is set to release any new phones prior to this period – in the Q1 of 2017. However, internal sources say there is the Nokia D1C which is being produced to operate with the Android 7.0 Nougat onboard.
The rumored Nokia D1C is said to have a 1.4Ghz Qualcomm Snapdragon 430 processor, a 3GB of RAM and a 16GB or 32GB internal memory. The hand may have a 5.5 inches 1080p display, and a 16-megapixel camera facing the back.
A lot of speculations have gone ahead of the Nokia Android smartphones, but industry analysts are watching to see how many of these will come true.
