Apple has been gradually reducing the size of the bezels on their iPhones over the years. The latest iPhone 14 series is a testament to this and is almost entirely screen. To take this even further, there are rumors that the upcoming iPhone 15 Pro Max will have even thinner bezels ever seen on any smartphone so far.
Ice Universe, a trusted source known for providing prior information on future device launches has revealed that the next Apple flagship smartphone will feature remarkably thin bezels measuring only 1.55mm. This represents a significant decrease from the current iPhone 14 Pro Max, which has bezels that measure 2.17mm. If true, this would set a new record for the thinnest bezels on a smartphone, surpassing the current record held by the Xiaomi 13 with 1.81mm bezels. For comparison, the Galaxy 22 and S23 have bezels that are approximately 1.95mm thick.
While the upgrade to ultra-thin bezels on the upcoming iPhone 15 Pro Max is certainly noteworthy, it ultimately comes down to personal preference whether or not one should care about it. Some may argue that the current iPhone models already have slim enough borders and that further reduction may not make a significant impact on the user experience.
Although Ice Universe’s information was focused on the upcoming iPhone Pro Max model, leaked renders have recently suggested that the smaller iPhone 15 Pro will also feature thinner bezels. Both phones will maintain the Dynamic Island design with a centered, pill-shaped punch hole. Furthermore, this design may also be featured on the standard iPhone 15 and 15 Plus. These models may also have Dynamic Island designs, but they will not feature the ProMotion and AOD capabilities.
