The good old Nokia is back with a new handset which they have named Nokia 6. Running Android 7.0 Nougat, the Nokia 6 will, however, be available only in China right now as it charts out its revival plans in the fiercely competitive smartphone market.
Also, the Nokia bit about the smartphone is limited to just the brand name as the handset, in reality, is manufactured by the Finnish company, HMD Global, which in turn has acquired the right to the use of Nokia brand for a decade. HMD Global meanwhile has on its rolls several ex-Nokian. For instance, the company CEO used to be in-charge of sales and product development at Nokia.
Coming to the handset itself, the Nokia 6 comes with a 1920 x 1080 pixel 5.
5-inch 2.5D Gorilla Glass 3 display on the front. Powering the device is a Qualcomm Snapdragon 430 chip that works in conjugation with an Adreno 505 GPU. The smartphone has a 4 GB LPDDR3 RAM and has a 64 GB storage.
The latter can further be expanded to 128 GB using microSD cards.
The Nokia 6 also appeals with its 16 mp rear cam that boasts of a 4/2.0 aperture and a 1.0u sensor. Then there is a dual tone flash as well, all of which promises to carry forward the good showing that Nokia branded handsets with their excellent cameras have always been known for. For selfie fanatics, there also is an 8 mp front cam with an 84-degree wide-angle lens together with 1.12um sensor and f/2.0 aperture.
The rest of the details include dual sim slots, dual speakers with Dolby Atmos along with a fingerprint sensor hiding beneath the home button. The Nokia 6 also continues with the 3.5 mm audio jack that several manufacturers like Apple seems to have abandoned.
As for its price, the Nokia 6 carries a sticker price of 1,699 yuan, which comes to a quite decent $246. HMD also stated they will be launching in India next but declined to offer any definitive launch schedule.
