The Nokia 9 is still in the making and is supposed to be the company’s flagship offering to take on the likes of the Samsung Galaxy S8 or the upcoming iPhone 8. And going by initial reports, the upcoming high-end Nokia handset is turning out to be the device to watch out for.
For one, the Nokia 9 is rumored to feature the latest and greatest from Qualcomm, the Snapdragon 835. An early prototype of the handset equipped with the Snapdragon 835 has also returned with impressive scores on the Geekbench 3 vis-a-vis several other handsets also featuring the same SoC.
In multi core tests, the Nokia 9 returned scores of 7770, which betters its nearest rival, the Xiaomi Mi 6 that scored 7598 in the same test. Even the current heartthrob, the Samsung Galaxy S8+ equipped with the SD 835 chip returned far less impressive scores of 7202. The iPhone 7 Plus made up the bottom with scores of 6123.
So far as single core scores are concerned, the iPhone 7 Plus came out on top with its figures of 3526. The Nokia 9 emerged second with a score of 2255, edging out the Xiaomi Mi 6 narrowly that returned scores of 2233. The Galaxy S8+ again maintained its second slot from last with scores of 2161.
Nokia is rumored to launch two new handsets, Nokia 8 and Nokia 9 later in the year. While still unconfirmed, both are expected to pack bezel-less design with the same along the top and bottom reduced to just the bare minimum. However, while the Nokia 8 is tipped to have the home button/fingerprint sensor at the front, the Nokia 9 will have the sensor at the back.
Not much if known of the two handsets at the moment, save for a leaked image that revealed the Nokia 9 donning an oversized case. Sure that was aimed at concealing its design but did reveal the dual rear camera stacked in a single file at the rear center. That again is akin to what the Note 8 is speculated to be like from the rear.
We also have some inkling of what the internal build of the Nokia 9 will be like. That includes a Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 processor mated to a 4 GB RAM along with 64 GB of native storage. Two 13-megapixel cameras are rumored on the back, besides featuring both the USB-C port and a headphone jack. Also yes, the handset will also support QuickCharge 3.0 technology.
