Razer’s much-publicised smartphone is due for launch, but we already have a fair idea of what to expect. The latest leak meanwhile has its origins in a listing for the phone in the UK based 3G retailer carrying a snapshot of what its internals would be like. The same has since been removed though not before it has already been picked up far and wide.
No points for guessing the device would also be carrying the same gaming genes that define the core ethos of the company itself. Towards that, it should be hardly surprising the Razer would be featuring 8 gigs of memory to ensure even the most demanding games can fly effortlessly.
A 120Hz refresh rate is also being touted, which again is well in tune with its gaming lineage as most high-end games are often found lagging on anything less than that. Worth mentioning, the iPad Pro 10.5 had earlier hit the headlines with its support for 120Hz refresh rates. The same on the upcoming Razor phone could well start a new trend with other smartphone makers the following suit in future.
Meanwhile, though not mentioned but there likely will be the Snapdragon 835 chip working in conjugation with the 8 GB RAM. At least that is the fastest we have right now. A 4,000 mAh battery is also mentioned in the now deleted listing though the native storage mentioned is a bit lowly 64 GB.
The design of the phone as was depicted in the retailer site is however conventional at best, with the 5.72-inch display flanked at the top and bottom with sizeable bezels. Those again carry Dolby Atmos speakers at the bottom, which is imperative for a superior gaming experience while an 8-megapixel shooter is accommodated at the top.
A dual rear camera also finds mention, which includes a 12-megapixel lens working in tandem with a 13-megapixel zoom lens as well. However, there are no rear shot of the phone available just yet.
On the whole, what seems evident is that Razer is aiming for a balanced approach with the phone, with emphasis on gaming while remaining true to the current trend sweeping across the smartphone landscape. Fortunately, we won’t have to wait for long as the entire story unveils today.
