Apple iPad Pro 2018 renders reveal slim equidistant bezels, iPhone-like antenna lines

The iPad Pro is set for a revamp and there already are renders of the iPad version that depicts what the tablet might eventually end up looking like. The handiwork of Steve Hemmerstoffer of OnLeaks as well as the tech blog MySmartPrice, the new iPad Pro looks radically different from the current models.

For one, the thing that catches the eye right away is the equidistant bezels all round that again are thinner than those on the current iPad Pro. That said, those still are wide enough to hold the front-facing cam as well as the other tech wizardry that powers Face ID. The rounded edges and curved chamfered sides too have been replaced by square edges and flat sides. Those aren’t all as the new iPad Pro also seems to be getting new antenna lines which again seem to have been taken from the iPhone.

Further, the SIM tray too has a new position, along with the middle on the side of the new iPad Pro. The Lightning port, however, continues with the same position, along with the bottom center flanked on either side by speaker vents. The Smart Connector meanwhile is shown to have been relocated along the rear.

Another change to be seen with the new iPad Pro renders is the lack of the physical home button, which has been done away with completely. While this, in turn, has led to the bezels getting slimmed down, the Face ID will henceforth be performing the role of user authentication. Also gone is the headphone jack though the rest of the button placement remains unchanged.

While it remains to be seen if the renders will indeed prove to be a perfect match with the real thing, Steve Hemmerstoffer seemed quite confident of that claiming the renders have been done with inputs from informed sources. Also, while the above changes apply to the 11-inch iPad, the same is also believed to be equally applicable to the 12.9-inch version of the tablet as well.

As for the likely launch schedule of the new iPad models, what is a surety that it’s going to happen before the end of the year. Sure, there is the Sept. 12 event that will yield the new iPhone and chances are that Apple might also launch the new iPad during the same event. If not, there is going to be a separate event down the line for launching the new iPad.
