Apple launches FDA approved Watch Series 4

A new range of iPhones isn’t, of course, the only thing Apple brought at its mega event at the Steve Jobs theater. For there also was the new Apple Watch 4, and it’s a major upgrade over last iterations that the company has come up with.

First things first; Apple proudly proclaimed they are the makers of the number one smartwatch(sorry, Watch) in the world, one that has redefined what a smartwatch, or for that matter, a wearable is capable of doing. And that includes three principal activities that pretty much rounds off the core functionality of the Apple Watch – that of connecting people, helping with their fitness objectives and acting as a health guru.

The new Apple Watch series 4 is also about better physical design though the overall looks have largely remained unchanged. It’s just that the display area is 30 percent bigger this time given that the display extends all the way to the edge. The display is also curved along the edges making it look one of the smartest looking wearables out there. On offer will be two variants – 40 and 44 mm with everything else remaining just the same.

Also, in what can undoubtedly be stated to be the biggest plus with the new Apple Watch is that it can perform an ECG. That sure is incredible for a device that is meant to be worn around the wrist. One simply has to press upon the crown for the ECG to be done. And 30 secs is all it takes for the ECG report to be ready. The FDA too has certified the new ECG feature of the Apple Watch.

That apart, there is the heart rate monitor as well that can detect irregularities in the heart rate. It can also detect low heart rate as well which can be just as serious a heart issues as otherwise. A notification will also be issued to warn the user of his or her potential heart problems like Atrial fibrillation.

However, that’s not all as the new Apple Watch is now advanced enough to detect if the user has had a fall. With new advanced sensors like gyroscope and accelerometer the Apple Watch comes equipped with enabling it to study hand or wrist movements to conclude. And if it feels there has been a fall, it will offer to call help, or wait for 60 secs and seek external help if there is no response made within the first 60 mins.

Powering the new Apple Watch is the company’s new 64-bit dual core S4 chip. The smartwatch is now endowed with a better speaker as well to allow for unhindered communicating at all times. In fact, everything with the new Apple Watch is new, which extends to the user interface as well. That includes the ability to accommodate your nearest accomplices in the watch face. And tapping on them is all that is needed to begin communicating with them.

As for its battery, Apple said that is going to last 18 hours at a stretch. This should allow for a day’s usage. The smartwatch already boasts cellular connectivity, which means it can be used independently without requiring to be tethered to an iPhone. Apple also said the new Apple Watch 3 series has won the necessary FDA certification as well.

The rear side of the watch too seems to be exuding character this time and has a sapphire crystal cover over the smart sensors. The new smartwatch is eco-friendly too. Price starts at $399 for the GPS only variant while the GPS + cellular model will set one back $499. Pre-order starts September 14 with deliveries slated to commence starting September 21.
