Apple has taken the wraps off of its new iPad Pro devices, revealing a thorough makeover for what inarguably is the bestselling tablet in the world. The makeover also happens to be the most extensive it has ever been since it was first introduced back in April 2010, to the extent that the new iPad Pro is sans the most iconic design features the tablet had had so far – the home button.
With the home button gone, the new iPad Pro comes integrated with Face ID which replaces the Touch ID that we have had for a while now. Apart from the facial recognition tech, the new iPad pro also comes with another of iPhone X’s distinct design feature, an edge to edge display.
The same may not be as pronounced as on the iPhone X though the iPad Pro still comes with super thin bezels all round. The bezel depth is also uniform throughout and is perhaps the thinnest it has ever been on any mainstream tablet so far. Needless to say, the incorporation of thin bezels has been possible only due to the elimination of the home button.

The display meanwhile is of 11- and 12.9-inches and has sharper edges than any prior models. The new iPad Pro is incredibly thin too, and all of it does lend a sharp and purposeful look to the tablet. The presence of thin bezels also ensured the tablet continues with a more manageable external dimension while still allowing the fitment of a bigger display.
Another unique aspect with the new iPad Pro is that it comes with a USB-C port this time. This has long been the demand of iPad users as the USB-C port will allow a user to connect external accessories directly to the tablet. The USB-C port replaces Apple’s proprietary Lightning port which has been a hallmark of all iOS devices so far. Not surprisingly, the headphone jack is missing too.
Powering both the iPad Pro version is Apple’s A12X bionic chips which the company said are more powerful than the ones featuring in the iPhone XS and iPhone XS Max devices. Prices start at $799 for the 11-inch model while the 12.9-inch iPad Pro will set one back $999. Both the tablet models can be pre-ordered right away with deliveries slated to begin Nov. 7.
