Honor has taken the wraps off of its latest mobile sensation – the Honor V20. However, the launch applies to China only with an international launch scheduled for Jan. 22 at an event in Paris.
As for reasons to look forward to the phone, well there are plenty. First off, the new V20 comes with a punch hole display, something that can be considered the latest design fad post the notch. Peeping from behind the 4.5mm hole is a 25 mp selfie camera. The hole again can be viewed as the only disruption for the All-View display though there is a thin slice of bezel at the bottom. The display is all of 6.4-inch and comes with 2310 X 1080 pixels.
Powering the device is the company’s own Kirin 980 chip, the same that renders service in the new Mate 20 Pro as well. Then there is a Dual NPU as well for processing of AI and machine learning tasks while there is support for GPU Turbo 2.0 for graphical processing. Coupled to the processer is a either a 6GB or 8GB RAM though the storage is going to be consistent at 128 GB for both models.
As for optics, there is a 48 mp rear cam based on the Sony IMX586 CMOS sensor. A secondary Time of Flight camera is present too, which together with the LED flash is arranged in a horizontal layout along the top left corner. Honor said the 3D ToF camera with adequate support from the Kirin 980 chipset allows for 3D body shaping, which means users can expect the perfect and most realistic shots each time.
The rear panel is special too in that it comes with a cool gradient where the V changes color as per the viewing angle. The rear otherwise offers a shiny surface and houses a fingerprint sensor as well at the center. Keeping the lights on is a 4000 mAh battery which is compliant with 22.5Kw SuperCharge tech. The phone runs the latest Android Pie with EMUI 9.0 running on top.
A yet another unique aspect of the phone is its Link Turbo feature. That essentially means the phone will be able to switch between Wi-Fi and LTE depending upon the task on hand and the network with the best signal strength. What that means is users won’t have to be bothered about bandwidth as the phone can automatically choose which channel has the strongest signal.

Coming to price, the base V20 with 6 GB of RAM and 128 GB of storage will set one back CNY 2999, which comes to around Rs 30,000. The higher model with 8 GB of RAM and 128 GB of storage will cost CNY 3499 or approximately Rs 35,500. Then there is a special Moschino brand edition of the V20 as well which comes with the same 8 GB of RAM, but 256 GB of storage and is priced CNY 3999 or around Rs 40,000.
