Xiaomi Black Shark 2 set for launch in China on March 18

The Black Shark gaming smartphone that was launched last year now has a successor in the form of the Black Shark 2. And the latest report on this claims that the phone is confirmed for launch as early as March 18 itself.

The launch event has been planned in Beijing, China which is also where the new Black Shark 2 will be available, to begin with. After that, the phone is set to be introduced in the European markets as well. There also are reports of the Xiaomi backed company setting up a base in India, which means a likely launch in the country too. Worth mentioning, India already happens to be one of the most important markets for Xiaomi, and a launch of the new Black Shark 2 in the country seems imminent.

Meanwhile, a few specifications of the upcoming gaming phone too have been leaked thanks to its listing at the benchmarking site Geekbench. Among those include the latest Snapdragon 855 chipset for the Black Shark 2 along with 10 GB or even 12 GB of RAM. This points to the device being a speed monster, to say the least, which is understandable considering its intended role of being a gaming smartphone. The phone has already earned a single core performance rating of 3516 points while the multi-core rating has come to be a thoroughly impressive 11,413 points.

Also, Liquid Cool 3.0 technology too is being mentioned to ensure proper dispersion of all the heat generated from intense game playing. Further, to take care of the battery drain, there is going to be a 27W charger this time in place of an 18W charger to allow for quick recharging times. Nothing much can be made out from the image of the phone doing the rounds of the net though what is known is that the rear panel will undergo a slight re-design of sorts to allow for a dual camera setup arranged vertically.

Xiaomi to start selling fridges, washing machines, water purifiers in India soon

Price is anybody’s guess at the moment though what is a surety is that it is going to be extremely competitive given Xiaomi’s time-tested marketing strategy of offering more for less.
