Xiaomi expected to launch Pocophone F1 Lite soon as an cheaper alternative

Driving down prices have been one of the most favored marketing strategies employed to some good effect by Xiaomi, and the same seems set for a replay with the new Pocophone F1 lite. The name should already be ringing a bell or two given that the Pocophone F1 went on to become extremely popular, and the company seems set to repeat the same with a cheaper alternative.

Also, given that the Pocophone F1 lite has now been spotted at the benchmarking site Geekbench, there is speculation the phone is lined up for launch sometime soon. There also is a fair bit of information available of the phone as well giving us some idea of what it’s going to be like.

For instance, its the Snapdragon 660 chipset that is known to be powering the phone and will have a not-so-bad 4 GB of RAM as well. All of that conspired to return performance scores of 1341 on single core tests and 4830 with all the cores firing. Those again aren’t too bad, except that the Nokia 7 does better.

Maybe the more recent Snapdragon 670 and 675 would have done a better job though Xiaomi might have opted for the SD 660 to keep prices low. Fortunately, the phone otherwise codenamed Uranus came with Android 9 Pie, and that’s the version expected to be pre-installed on the phone as well during launch.

The rest of the details of the Uranus is mere speculation at the moment. Those include a notched display on the front while the phone is also expected to offer a 3.5mm headphone jack as well. Both the features were present on the Pocophone F1, as is a dual rear camera setup. The latter too is believed to be made part of the new Lite version as well but will likely have a slightly lesser capable lens to justify the lower price tag.

The company meanwhile is also known to be working on the successor to the Poco F1 which set the benchmark of offering flagship performance but at a lower price tag. The first gen Poco F1 came with an SD 845 chipset along with 6GB of RAM, and 64GB of storage and was among the most competitively priced phone powered by the SD 845.
