The new gen Google mid-rangers – the Pixel 3a and Pixel 3a XL – are out of the wild at last. Much along expected lines, the company launched the phones at its developer’s conference and provides for a solid alternative for those who are looking for a top-tier phone in the mid-range segment.
Much of that again has to do with the solid specs that the phone boasts of, which includes a Snapdragon 670 chipset at the core along with 4 gigs of memory and 64 GB of storage. Also, both the phones run the latest Android 9.0 Pie and come with 18W fast charging support. The Pixel 3a, however, comes with a smaller 3000mAh battery while the Pixel 3a XL gets its juice from a 3700mAh battery.
The Pixel 3a also has a 5.6-inch display having a resolution of 2220 x 1080 pixels. The bigger Pixel 3a Xl comes with a 6-inch panel lit up by 2160 x 1080 pixels. The phone also boasts of the headphone jack this time but understandably, misses out on wireless charging support.
Also, in what surely happens to be the biggest plus with the new Pixel devices is its camera feature which happens to be a direct rip-off of its flagship cousins. That makes for a single lens 12-mp camera of f/1.8 aperture at the rear while the front gets an 8-mp shooter of f/2.0 aperture. Camera features happen to be common for both models and include several modes including the much vaunted Night Mode.
The phones have also been priced quite reasonably at $399 for the Pixel 3a while the Pixel 3a XL will set one back a cool $479. This brings us to the competition which includes the likes of the OnePlus 6T or the base Samsung Galaxy S10e. The new Pixel duo impresses in this segment with its class-leading camera even though it comes with a single lens at the rear compared to double or triple lens rear camera setup the competing devices have gone for.

Among the other important plus with the new Pixel is its price, which makes it quite a reasonable offering having an excellent camera and decent performance. Then there also is the added benefit of stock Android which provides for the best performance any Android phone is supposed to offer while the competition has largely gone for their own version of the OS.
