Samsung to introduce A90 5G mid-range phone, Galaxy Fold back in the fray

Samsung could be working on a new 5G phone which would be the first to be available in the mid-range segment. Named Galaxy A90, the new phone will form the upper crust in the current A series of mid-range phones while still having the basic traits of the mid-range A series of phones.

The upcoming phone will likely be named A90 5G which again has roused speculation the phone might be available in 4G trim as well with a high-end model having 5G capability. The rest of the features of the phone is anybody’s guess though a leaked retail box purported to be that of the A90 5G reveals a triple camera setup comprising of a 48, 5, and 8 mp sensors at the rear. The front meanwhile benefits from a 32 mp selfie cam.

The lack of a flappable camera module will be a noticeable omission on the A90 considering that is among the biggest USP of the A80. Besides, there is no rear fingerprint sensor as well, which means it’s going to be packed underneath the front display.

Noted leakster Evan Blass is also claiming the phone to come powered by a Snapdragon 855 processor coupled to a 6GB RAM and 128 GB of storage. Design-wise, the new A90 is expected to sport similar looks as others in the A family of phones, which include a teardrop notch at the top and razor-thin bezels along the bottom. Specifically, the phone will likely have a 7.7-inch FHD+ AMOLED display dominating the front.

In another interesting development, Samsung has announced the pre-registration process for the Galaxy Fold device. This comes after the initial fiasco the Galaxy Fold faced when its display fared poorly during initial reviews. Samsung had then postponed the launch of the phone indefinitely though the company seems to have sorted out all such outstanding issues with the phone.

Notably, the company is asking for pre-registering for the Galaxy Fold though there is no option to pre-order just yet. Maybe that is a small step to induce consumer confidence in the foldable phone coming as it does post a horrible display issue. What that means is those interested can register for the phone but unlike the pre-ordering process, won’t be required to put down their money just yes.

Samsung and Apple facing class action lawsuit for deliberately selling phones with a higher RF emission

It’s not known though when the Galaxy Fold is slated to hit streets though that likely will happen sometime soon. Apple too has lined up its next-gen iPhone for launch on Sept. 10 and might have something to worry with the launch of the Galaxy Fold around the same time.
