A leaked Apple doc meant for use by its staff, contractors, retailers and such has revealed a wealth of information regarding the company’s upcoming hardware launches, including the new iPhone offerings.
According to what the document has revealed, the upcoming iPhone models have been designated iPhone 11 for the base model, iPhone 11 Pro for the mid-tier device and the iPhone 11 Pro Max for the top of the line version. The three models had earlier been known to be identified internally as the N104, D42 and D43 respectively.
The doc also revealed the iPhone 11 family of phones will come pre-loaded with iOS 13.1.0. What has also come to the fore is that the phones will be getting the security patch marked as iOS 13.0.1 in October. This will serve as the first over the air update that the phones will be provided with though all of this has also led some to speculate if an initial lot of iPhones will be running iOS 13.1 right out of the gates. Worth mentioning, the beta version of iOS 13.1.0 was launched only last week for testing purposes.
As for its launch, that is widely speculated to happen on Sept. 10 even though that does not find specific mention in the leaked documents. Nevertheless, the document does reveal the new iPhone 11 family is set for launch on Sept. 27 even though users will have access to iOS 13 on Sept. 23 itself. The next iteration, iOS 13.1 should be available for users to download a bit later, sometime in October itself.
Meanwhile, the Sept. 10 event isn’t expected to yield only the iPhone as there also is the next-gen Apple Watch slated for launch on the same day. Also, there is going to be four new models of the Apple Watch launched this time carrying the model numbers A2156, A2157, A2092 and A2093.
According to the leaked information, the new Apple Watch family will come pre-installed with the latest watchOS 6 right out of the box. Much like the new iPhones, the new Apple Watch is also slated for an update, the watchOS 6.1 sometime in October itself.
Then there is something for iPad fans as well what with two new iPad devices slated for launch in October. The new iPads carry the model numbers A2068 and A2198 and will likely be launched in a separate event in October. Not many details are available of the new iPad series though the document does reveal the A2068 is going to be the entry-level model while the A2198 will be the high-end version succeeding the iPad Pro.
