Motorola has introduced a new contender in the hugely competitive budget smartphone segment in India in the form of the Moto E6s. The same however happens to be a rebranded version of the Moto E6 the company had introduced at the IFA trade show in Berlin a few months back.
The basic flavor though remains the same, it being the same device for the most part and is designed to compete in the affordable segment in India characterized by a sub Rs. 10k price bracket. The specifications that the phone sports are also par for the course.
Powering the E6s is an octa-core Helio P22 processor and a PowerVR GE8320 GPU combo. Both have at their disposal a rather decent 4 GB of RAM along with 64 GB of storage. The latter two makes things a bit cheery considering that the processor is only modest at best and might be left gasping for breath when faced with tasks that require intense computation.
The storage again is expandable as there is another 512 GB that can be added via MicroSD cards for which there also is a dedicated slot as well. Another highlight of the phone is its user-replaceable 3000mAh battery which should be enough to keep the lights on for an entire day and perhaps still have some juice left as well.
Looks-wise, the E6s does not break any new ground. It sports a roundish notch at the top while the rest is dedicated to the display panel, save for a rather thick chin at the bottom. There also is some amount of bezel all round and the notch at the top can’t do much to hide them all. The display is a quite generous 6.1-inch 720 x 1560p HD+ panel of 19.5:9 aspect ratio.
As for optics, there is a twin-lens camera at the back comprising of a primary 13 mp sensor and a 2 mp depth sensor. Then there are the usual set of modes such as one to create a bokeh effect or a beautification mode. For selfies, there is an 8 mp cam housed within the front notch. Another nice addition to the feature list is a fingerprint sensor that sits beneath the company logo at the rear. The rear meanwhile comes with a polished finish and is removable as well.
Among the other features, the E6S boasts of including Bluetooth 4.2, Wi-Fi and an FM radio, complete with a 3.5mm headphone jack as well. There is the micro USB port too for charging or data transfer roles. The phone runs Android 9 right away though it’s not known if there is going to be the Android 10 update made available anytime soon.
Coming to the price, the E6S will cost just Rs. 7,999 and is going to be available from Flipkart starting September 23. There is a range of exciting color options too, which includes Polished Graphite and Rich Cranberry. A Cosmic Blue variant too is set to be introduced a bit later, likely around the end of October.
