New Google Lens enhancement turn it into a skin doc, sort of at least

Introducing a new enhancement to Lens, Google’s visual search feature. Lens can now identify various skin conditions, such as moles and rashes, by analyzing uploaded pictures or photos. This functionality extends to other physical ailments that may be challenging to describe verbally, like lip bumps, nail lines, or hair loss.

This advancement is a step closer to the AI-driven skin, hair, and nail condition diagnosis app that Google launched in 2021, initially in the European Union. However, the app faced regulatory obstacles for approval by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, preventing its entry into the American market.

Nevertheless, the Lens feature proves valuable for individuals who are uncertain whether their condition necessitates medical attention or can be addressed with over-the-counter treatments.

Additionally, Lens is now integrated with Bard, Google’s AI-powered chatbot experience, as previously announced at I/O. Users can include images in their Bard prompts, and Lens works behind the scenes to assist Bard in understanding the visual content. For instance, when presented with a photo of shoes and asked for their name, Bard, leveraging Lens’ analysis, will provide an accurate response.

These updates represent the latest advancements to Bard, Google’s answer to ChatGPT, as the company continues to invest in generative AI technologies. In recent weeks, Google introduced the capability for Bard to autonomously write, execute, and test code, bolstering its programming and problem-solving abilities. Moreover, in collaboration with Adobe, Google enabled Bard to generate art in May.
