The Samsung Galaxy Watch 6 has been making waves in the smartwatch market since its release. While it brings several improvements over its predecessor, the Galaxy Watch 5, it’s more of an evolutionary step rather than a revolutionary leap. Here’s our comprehensive review of this latest offering from Samsung.
Performance and Features
- Processor and RAM: The Galaxy Watch 6 comes with an updated Exynos W930 processor and more RAM, enhancing its performance and efficiency.
- Health Metrics: New health features like high-heart-rate alerts and fall detection make it a more reliable health companion.
- Battery Life: Although improved, the battery life still leaves something to be desired.
Smooth User Experience
The watch runs on Samsung’s One UI Watch 5 and offers a smooth user experience. Whether it’s tracking your sleep, running, or general activity level, the Galaxy Watch 6 performs admirably. Third-party apps like WhatsApp, Spotify, and Strava also work seamlessly on the device.
Display Quality
The Super AMOLED screen remains a high point, offering smooth transitions and a high refresh rate. The screen sizes remain the same as the Galaxy Watch 5, but the bezel is slightly thinner, giving it a sleek look.
Price and Availability
- U.S. Pricing: Starts at $299.99 for the 40mm model and $329.99 for the 44mm model.
- U.K. Pricing: Starts at £289 for the 40mm model and £319 for the 44mm model.
- Australian Pricing: Starts at AU$549 for the 40mm model and AU$599 for the 44mm model.
Design and Build
The design hasn’t changed much from its predecessor. It still sports a slightly thinner bezel and retains the same button functionalities. The Super AMOLED screen is excellent, with smooth transitions and a high refresh rate.

- Rotating Bezel Design: Classic rotating bezel enables precise control and smooth navigation.
Final Thoughts
- Evolutionary Upgrade: The Galaxy Watch 6 brings several improvements but doesn’t radically change the game.
- Health Features: The new health metrics are a welcome addition but are not groundbreaking.
- Price Point: The pricing is competitive but not compelling enough for existing Galaxy Watch owners to upgrade.
Should You Buy It?
If you’re already a Galaxy Watch owner, the Galaxy Watch 6 might not offer enough to justify an immediate upgrade. However, for those new to the smartwatch scene or looking to switch, it’s a strong contender in the market.
