Meta Quest 3 users are reporting tracking issues with the new controllers, particularly in games that require fast hand movements.
Key highlights:
- Meta Quest 3 users are reporting tracking issues with the new controllers.
- The issue is particularly noticeable in games that require fast hand movements.
- Meta is investigating the issue and has released a statement saying that it is working on a fix.
The issue has been reported on the Meta community forums, as well as on social media. Some users have said that the controllers lose tracking completely, while others have said that the tracking is simply not as accurate as it was on the Quest 2.
One user, who goes by the name NotDream on the Meta community forums, said that the tracking issues are “unplayable” in some games.
“I’m having major tracking issues with the Quest 3 controllers,” NotDream wrote. “The controllers lose tracking during medium-fast to fast hand movement. This is a big issue for games/activities involving fast-paced hand movement as it’s not nearly as reliable as the Quest 2 controller tracking performance.”
Another user, who goes by the name TheAntiSocializer on the Meta community forums, said that he has also experienced tracking issues with the Quest 3 controllers.
“I’m having some tracking issues with the Quest 3 controllers as well,” TheAntiSocializer wrote. “It’s not as bad as NotDream is describing, but it is noticeable. The tracking is just not as accurate as it was on the Quest 2.”
Meta has acknowledged the tracking issues and has released a statement saying that it is working on a fix.
“We are aware of some reports of tracking issues with the Quest 3 controllers,” Meta said in a statement. “We are investigating the issue and are working on a fix. We will provide more information as soon as it is available.”
It is unclear what is causing the tracking issues, but some users have speculated that it may be due to the new design of the controllers. The Quest 3 controllers are smaller and lighter than the Quest 2 controllers, and they also have a different tracking system.
It is also unclear when the tracking issues will be fixed. Meta has not said when it will release a software update to address the issue.
In the meantime, users who are experiencing tracking issues can try the following troubleshooting tips:

- Make sure that there are no reflective surfaces in your play area.
