Samsung launched the Galaxy J5 phone last year as part of its J-series of mid-range phones. Those are handsets with relatively average specifications. Now most expect the company to bring out a revamped J5 successor.
The upcoming Galaxy J5 (2016) was first spotted at Zauba DB. That seems to have confirmed the handset’s impending launch, and now the GFXBench site has revealed some of its specifications. The listed specifications come under the title: “3D Graphics Performance of Samsung Galaxy J5 (2016, SM-J510x).”
So what can we expect from the Galaxy J5 (2016)? Firstly, the GFXBench specification list includes Android 5.1.1 Lollipop. So it’s probably not going to come with Android 6.0 Marshmallow, but there might still be some chance that Samsung could alter its Android configuration before launching the handset. At the very least, Samsung might commit to Marshmallow updates for the J5 (2016).
The Galaxy J5 will apparently have a quad-core Snapdragon 410 CPU clocked at 1.2GHz. In addition, the handset will include a Qualcomm Adreno 306 GPU. The specs revealed that the Android phone is going to have slightly more RAM than the original. The first J5 had 1.5 GB of RAM. In comparison, the site’s specs include 1.8 GB of RAM for the updated J5.
In addition, you can expect the Galaxy J5 to include more storage. The 2015 Samsung Galaxy J5 had 8 GB of storage, while the 2016 model will likely have 11 GB of internal storage.
The display of the revamped J5 remains largely the same. However, it will be slightly expanded with a 5.2-inch display. It retains the same 720 x 1,280 resolution as the original model.

So it doesn’t seem that the upcoming J5 will be much of an enhancement on the original. It might have a little more RAM, storage and expanded display. Most expect Samsung to launch the new Galaxy J5 in June 2016.
