Huawei, in a select media event, announced that their newest smartphone wonder, the Honor 6X will be hitting streets in India only on January 4, 2017. This clears the rumor clouds that the handset would be making its Indian debut on Dec. 23 or Mid-January.
Though there is a slight delay in official launch but it could still be worth, considering the feature-rich package that the Honor 6X comes along as. And one of the most exciting aspects of the Honor 6X is inarguably its rear dual camera setup.
Featuring a Dual camera 12 MP and 2 MP lens combo, the photographic experience is further enhanced thanks to the phase detection autofocusing technology that it incorporates. Then, of course, there is the LED flash to allow for better low-light photography. There is an 8 MP front camera as well for selfie shots.
As for the twin-lens setup, while the 12 MP cam serves as the regular primary shooter, the 2 MP unit allow for depth-sensing. This, in turn, makes it possible to eliminate background blur achieved using software enhancements.
Powering the Honor 6X will an Octa-Core HiSilicon Kirin 655 processor, which happens to be an in-house development at Huawei. The SoC will be aided by a 3 GB RAM in the most basic configuration though there also are versions featuring a 4 GB RAM as well. The choice of internal storage is either 32 GB or 64 GB, both being further expandable up to 256GB using micro SD cards.
The Honor 6X boasts of a fingerprint sensor as well that has been accommodated at the rear, just beneath the rear cam. The handset though will be running Android Marshmallow right out of the gates, with the Nougat update likely to be made available at a later date. Also as it has been with previous Honor devices, there is also the Emotion UI 4.1 running on top of the standard Android.
The front comprises of 5.5-inch full HD 1080p display. It houses dual sim slots and is 4G LTE ready. Power comes from a rather hefty 3,340mAh battery.
Pricing details have been kept under wraps but is expected to be well within the mid-range price bracket. For instance, the base Honor 6X featuring a 3G RAM and 32 GB storage recently went on sale in China for the equivalent of Rs. 9,765 (999 yuan) while the 4G variant with 32 GB storage costs around Rs.12,697 (1,299 yuan). Similarly, the top-of-the-line Honor 6X with 4GB memory and 64 GB storage cost about Rs. 15,630 (1,599 yuan).
Overall, the Honor 6X is already emerging as a nice well-rounded package that can have its appeal enhanced further if it is indeed priced competitively.
