Fresh new leaks of the OnePlus 5 have unveiled new insights into the hotly anticipated phone, which includes a dual camera setup at both the front and rear. That is not all as the familiar 3.5mm headphone might also get the boot in the forthcoming OnePlus 5 in favor of a Type-C Port.
There are also reports of the Chinese start-up having entered into some sort of collaboration with DxO to enhance the photographic experience with the OnePlus 5. DxO may not be too familiar a name in the world of photography but it does have a few software to its credit.
DxO also makes a snap-on camera for the iPhone which when attached to the handset via the lightening port leads to better photography than the native camera. However, it is not known exactly what the terms of the partnership with OnePlus is – whether it is going to be in the hardware or the software level or whatever.
DxO is also known for their photography benchmark test – DxOMark that many a manufacturer cites to hype their photographic prowess. Take for instance the recently launched HTC U11 that boasts of a DxOMark score of 90. That not only betters even the Google Pixel but is also the highest ever that a mobile device has managed so far.
In another related rumor, the OnePlus 5 is also tipped to come with a dual camera at the front as well. This, if true, will mark the beginning of a new race among mobile makers to tap into the lucrative selfie focused mobile market.
Meanwhile, an image purported to be that of the OnePlus 5 and leaked by Chinese internet giant Weibo reveals the device lacking the 3.5mm headphone jack. This if true will leave it to the Type-C port for both charging and syncing roles.
The OnePlus 5 otherwise is said to come with a Snapdragon 835 chip, Adreno 540 graphics along with 6 GB/8 GB of RAM. Storage options will be 64 GB and 128 GB though a new high-end version with 256 GB of storage is also being speculated.
The rest of the specs include a 5.5-inch 2560 x 1440 pixel AMOLED screen, the IP67 rating for water and dust protection, 3600mAh battery along with Oxygen OS based on Android 7.1.2.
The OnePlus 5 is expected to be launched this summer, most probably in the first half of June itself.
