Here finally comes the official confirmation of OnePlus 5T getting launched on Nov. 16. The event has been planned in Brooklyn, New York with the proceeding set to get underway on 8 A.M. PT.
Also, if not for the sheer affection of OnePlus phones, there are more reasons to look forward to the 5T this time for the company loyalists. The rather lacklustre OnePlus 5 is definitely one of them while the other being that the Chinese firm is rumored to pack in some exciting specs on the new 5T this time.
The biggest improvement to be seen on the 5T is, of course, the display, which is going to be all of the 6-inch this time. Further, the display will be more in tune with the current trend among other Android flagships, what with teaser shots of the phone revealing zero bezels along the sides while the ones at the top and bottom being a bare minimum.
The display having a resolution of 2160 x 1080 also has an aspect ratio of 18:9, which will put the phone in the same league as the Galaxy S8 duo or the V30. Also, with no bezel depth, there isn’t going to be a significant size difference with respect to the OnePlus 5. For comparison’s sake, the LG V30 and Google Pixel 2 XL display also sports a similar resolution and size.
Also, OnePlus is expected to continue with the same strategy of offering two variants on the basis of memory and on-board storage as it did with the OnePlus 5. So the base variant might come with 6 GB of RAM and 32 GB of storage while the top-end 5T will have 8 GB of RAM along with 128 GB of storage.
However, the processor will likely be the same – Snapdragon 835 – given that a successor to the hugely popular chip isn’t in view at least for the remaining of this year. The phone will also likely be sporting Android Oreo right out of the gates.
OnePlus described the jelly-scrolling effect on OnePlus 5 as normal
The OnePlus 5T, however, is expected to gain significantly on the camera front, with a 20-megapixel unit likely accommodated at the front. That, if true will make for a nice improvement over the 16-megapixel front cam that the current OnePlus 5 comes with. The rear cam set-up is however expected to remain the same, which includes two 16 megapixel cameras.
So those who might have missed out on the OnePlus 5 or didn’t find it exciting enough can look out for the 5T. The phone is set to go on sale from Nov. 21 itself.
