A new report from a well-established source now claims that Apple is likely to hold a big media event to be held on September 9th to showcase its next-gen iPhone. And, it the same day Apple held its iPhone 6 event last year.
The next iteration of iPhone is expected to come with pressure sensitive Force Touch display recently introduced with the newly launched Apple Watch. Other expected improvements include better camera performance, along with the addition of a new Qualcomm made LTE chip that will likely be much faster and power efficient.
Meanwhile, new images of the upcoming iPhone, which surfaced online last week suggest that it would be slightly chunkier than the current iPhone 6, with 7.1mm in thickness compared to the 6.9mm body of the current iPhone. And the most likely reason for this increase in thickness is because of the introduction of the Force Touch feature to add to the overall iPhone experience, which has the ability to distinguish between minor and heavy taps on the touch screen.
Apple is also expected to announce their latest lineup of iPads as well though the gigantic 12.9 inch Pro still seems like a distant possibility.
Meanwhile, the company is also expected to debut the long-awaited successor to Apple TV at the upcoming event. Earlier the company had plans to unveil the new set-top box in June though let go of the whole idea a few days prior to the event.
The company’s next-gen Apple TV will reportedly be a major upgrade to the rather grubby looking set-top box that hasn’t seen any changes since early 2012. Our sources suggest that the device will get a revamped design sporting a slimmer chassis along with new innards that include the A8 system on chip, increased on-board storage along with a better integration of the OS with Siri voice control. It is also expected to get a new remote control which according to sources has seen a major overhaul courtesy of a touch-pad input.
However, in true Apple style, the company’s spokesperson Trudy Muller has declined to make any comments on their upcoming fall event plans as the company is yet to send out media invites to the event.
