Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella already confirmed at Future Unleashed event in Mumbai, India that the Surface Pro 4 would launch in the country in January, though did not announce the pricing. However, according to a new report by Indian tech blog PC-Tablet, the hybrid device will be launching in India starting INR 67,999. This puts the pricing of the Surface Pro 4 directly in line with Apple’s newly launched monster tab the 12-inch iPad Pro.
The report also adds pricing of different configurations of the Surface Pro 4. As already mentioned, the base model with 128GB RAM, 4GB RAM and an Intel Core M3 processor has been priced at INR 67,999. While the one featuring the powerful Intel Core i5 processor (Skylake) will be priced at INR 74,999.
Next up we have the Surface Pro 4 with the Core i5 processor, 8GB RAM and 256GB, which according to the report will be priced at INR 95,999. Finally, the top-end variant of hybrid featuring the Core i7 processor, 8GB of ARM and 256GB storage will be priced at INR 118499, while the one with 16GB of RAM and 512GB of storage is likely to be priced at INR 132,999.
To recall, Microsoft announced the Surface Pro 4 at its Windows 10 devices event in New York back in October. The current-gen Surface gets a slightly larger 12.3-inch screen as opposed to the 12-inch screen of its predecessor. Microsoft has managed to shrink the overall weight of the device to 1.63 pounds despite the increased screen size.
Another major change with the new Surface Pro 4 is that the hybrid now comes with Intel’s latest 6th gen Core M and Core i processors, making it all the more powerful. The latest Skylake processors from Intel are capable of running faster without causing overheating issues. It can provide an impressive video playback of up to 9 hours.
The new Surface Pro 4 comes with an improved Type Cover keyboard, sporting a more responsive and larger trackpad, backlit keys, and also a fingerprint scanner. While the new hybrid is also compatible with the new Surface Pen that offers 1024 levels of pressure sensitivity.
