Apple’s recent iOS 12.1.2 update has run into issues which ironically are the same that the update intended to sort out in the first place. To clear things a bit, the latest update was meant to deal with network connectivity issues some iOS devices like iPhone XR, iPhone XS, and iPhone XS Max were facing in Turkey.
Unfortunately, while some might have benefitted from the update, a vast majority seems to be having just the opposite experience. Worse still, the issue might have also been introduced to a wider geographical area with users all over the world reporting facing connectivity issues post the update. Users in the US seems to have been hit the hardest and have equated the update to a Christmas gift from Apple that they could have done without.
As for the issue itself, those affected said they are not able to access mobile data services. Some also said they are not able to make phone calls as well, which means they can’t even get in touch with the Apple support staff as well. In fact, many lamented the iPhone has ceased to function even as a basic phone device post the update. The usual troubleshooting steps have also proved futile so far. Those include restarting the phone, updating carrier settings or even resetting the phone as a whole.
Apple is yet to acknowledge the above issues but is known to be working on the iOS 12.1.3 update already. Unfortunately, the said update is still under beta testing, and it’s not known for sure when it could be ready for prime time action. Also not known is whether the update would have the remedy for the cellular connectivity issues the latest update has introduced.

So for those who are yet to update their iOS devices, they would do well to refrain from doing so at the moment. While those who have already bitten the bullet, waiting for a magical solution from Apple seems to be the only way out right now.
