Apple’s recently unveiled monster tab – the iPad Pro goes on sale starting November 11 which can be purchased both via online and physical stores, according to a report by 9to5Mac. In addition, the report also claims that accessories that go with the iPad Pro namely the Apple Pencil and Smart Keyboard will also be released on the same day.
The 12.9-inch iPad Pro is the company’s largest and most powerful and expensive tablet yet, with two as much graphics and processing power compared to the iPad Air 2. It features the advanced A9X processor, houses four speakers and offers side-by-side app multitasking. While Smart Keyboard can be hooked with the iPad magnetically while the Apple Pencil can be used for routine activities like circling items, drawing shapes and more.
The 32GB Wi-Fi variant of the tablet has been priced at $799 while its LTE compatible 128GB version has been priced at $1079. To get the Smart Keyboard users will have to spend an extra $169, and the Pencil will sell for $99.
At the launch event in Bill Graham Civic Auditorium, Apple CEO Tim Cook announced “the biggest news in an iPad since the iPad.” The new iPad Pro is Apple’s desperate attempt to regain iPad’s lost ground. It is the “biggest screen on an iOS device, with more power and performance than any iOS device.”
The iPad Pro is definitely Apple’s response to Microsoft’s Surface range of hybrid tablets, but it is limited to iOS 9 and it will not run full fledged desktop apps unlike the Surface Pro range from Microsoft which has apparently laid down the benchmark for that slick hybrid experience.
With that being said, it still has the backing of Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe apps that might be enough to sustain the level of productivity one would really want out of a tablet It’ll be interesting to see the kind of response it gets from the market when it arrives on November 11.
