The Nikon D4 was a professional-grade full frame digital single reflex camera announced by the Japanese manufacturer back in January 2012. Since its launch, it has seen several improvements and upgrades made to it, though a true successor has been a long time coming. Now Nikon Corporation has officially confirmed that Nikon D5 is apparently real, which would be a full frame “next generation professional camera” currently under development.
Sadly, that is just about it that the highly applauded camera maker from Japan has confirmed. Hence, there’s no information regarding its price, availability, release date, specs or any official pictures.
“The Nikon D5 will offer professional photographers an even higher level of performance and image quality. When combined with these advanced accessories and the vast lineup of existing NIKKOR lenses, Nikon is offering photographers new levels of imaging expression,” said Nikon.
In the meantime, what we can share with you are the rumored specs of the forthcoming D5 we had heard earlier which include 4K video capture, a native high ISO of 102,400, a 20MP FX sensor, 173 autofocus points along with 15fps shooting. Besides, its design is expected to be inspired by D4S.
To recall, the D4 was first shown off to the public when it launched in 2012 at CES. Hence, there’s a good chance we get the first glimpse of the D5 at CES as well in early January next year.
