Microsoft has finally started sending media invites for the Surface Pro 4 Launch in India, which will be held in New Delhi on January 7th. This apparently marks the first Surface hybrid launch in India, the press invite for which reads, “Start fresh on a brand new Surface.”
Back in November, Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella announced at Future Unleashed event in Mumbai that the Surface Pro 4 will be launched in India, as did the chairman of Microsoft India Bhaskar Pramanik, who also confirmed last week that the device will be launched in the country “first week” of the month. And now, the stage is set for Surface Pro 4 launch in India.
The successor to the highly applauded Surface Pro 3, the hybrid was launched in the US back in October at Microsoft’s Windows 10 devices event in New York. During the event, Microsoft touted that the Surface Pro 4 is apparently 50% faster than a Macbook Air, or 30% faster than its predecessor. The new Surface Pro 4 gets a slightly larger 12.3-inch screen as opposed to the 12-inch screen of its predecessor. Microsoft has also managed to reduce its overall weight to 1.63 pounds despite the increased screen size.
Another major change with the new Surface Pro 4 is that the hybrid now comes with the beefier Intel’s 6th gen Core M and Core i processors, making it all the more powerful. The latest Skylake processors from Intel are capable of running faster without causing overheating issues. It can provide an impressive video playback of up to 9 hours.
Meanwhile, a report last week from an Indian tech blog PC-Tablet claimed that Surface Pro 4 will be launching in India starting INR 67,999, which apparently puts its pricing directly in line with Apple’s newly launched monster tab the 12-inch iPad Pro.
The report also adds pricing of different configurations of the Surface Pro 4. The base model with 128GB RAM, 4GB RAM and an Intel Core M3 processor has been priced at INR 67,999. While the one featuring the powerful Intel Core i5 processor (Skylake) will be priced at INR 74,999. While the one featuring the Core i5 processor, 8GB RAM and 256GB, will be priced at INR 95,999. Finally, the top-end variant featuring the Core i7 processor, 8GB of ARM and 256GB storage will be priced at INR 118499, while the one with 16GB of RAM and 512GB of storage will be priced at INR 132,999, according to the report last week.
