It might still be a few months away from a formal launch, though Galaxy Note 9 rumors have already started hitting headlines. And the latest here points to the phone likely featuring a higher capacity battery, to the tune of 3,850mAh to 4,000mAh capacity. Credit for the above leak goes to the Chinese leaker Ice Universe who had a pretty decent track record with leaks so far.
For comparison’s sake, the current Note 8 makes do with 3300mAh power pack while the more recent S9 and S9+ come with 3,000mAh and 3,500 mAh battery respectively. A bump in battery capacity of this scale is also indicative of Samsung having put behind the memoirs of the infamous Note 7 incident that tended to explode on its own. Consumers too seem to have moved ahead of that saga with stupendous sales of subsequent flagship devices like the S8 series, Note 8 and the S9 duo being reminiscent of that.
However, as with every leak that is pending an official approval, the latest that points to a battery upgrade for Note 9 too is to be taken with skepticism. That’s because there already are rumors of Samsung considering the fitment of an in-display fingerprint scanner on the upcoming Note device.
While there again is some confusion if the said biometric feature will indeed be a reality on a Samsung device this time, the inclusion of the same might again negate claims of a bigger battery. That is because an under-screen fingerprint sensor will lead to more depth for the display. That again will mean a few precious millimeters less of space for the battery.
The rest of the rumors that we have had for the Note 9 so far claim to see the display getting bumped to 6.4-inches, up from 6.3-inch for the current version. Further, there would be a Snapdragon 845 and Exynos 9810 powering the device depending on the region it is sold in. Coupled to the processor with be a 6 GB RAM while storage options are expected to range from 64 GB for entry-level models to 256 GB for the full-blown version.
There isn’t likely to be any radical changes on the camera front, with the dual 12 MP rear camera likely to be much the same as on the S9+. It will be a combination of wide-angle and telephoto to achieve the famous Bokeh affect. The front selfie shooter will include an 8 MP sensor having f/1.7 aperture.
There sure will be plenty more such leaks and revelations coming our way given that the Note 9 is still some months away from a formal launch. So there is plenty of action still left. Keep watching.
